The latest restoration project at Belle Isle State Park in Detroit is well underway. The comprehensive effort is multifaceted; requiring dredging, removing an existing water control structure and other tasks all aimed at improving the water flow and quality of Lake Okanoka.

Glenn Palmgren is an ecologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. He says the project will likely take about a year to complete and is the third out of four projects of this kind happening around the island.
