Tennis Teacher Seeks Funds to Fix Palmer Park Courts

A summer program in Detroit teaches children how to play tennis. The teacher is Leonora King, who says she learned how to play as a child on the courts at Palmer Park. Since 2011, King has spent 10 weeks each summer at the park, sharing her love and knowledge of the game with a new generation of young players. She says it’s challenging because the courts need repair. King tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller she and the group People for Palmer Park are turning to foundations and businesses for the funds to fix the courts. Click the audio player to hear the conversation.
