Polar Vortex Freezes Michigan

Experts say dreaded swirl of cold air known as the Polar Vortex will create dangerously low temps across the Midwest.

Experts forecast that a dangerously-cold mass of chilly weather will invade Michigan and the Midwest this week.

It’s the dreaded Polar Vortex, which could sink temperatures into the low teens and envelope as much as three-quarters of the entire country in below-freezing weather conditions.

But a renowned expert on the frosty weather pattern, Texas A&M Professor and state climatologist John Nielsen-Gammon, tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the Polar Vortex is a bit misunderstood.
