New Online Directory Launches for District 1 Businesses

An online directory was launched this morning for more than 600 Detroit businesses in District One.

Detroit City Council and partners introduced an online local business directory on Monday.

The website lists 620 neighborhood shops and services in Detroit’s District One.

City Council member James Tate says the main goal is to provide a platform for marketing local businesses.

“Many of our businesses unfortunately don’t have a website and so that’s one of the focus areas that we are trying to get them to pay a lot more attention to. We tell them if you’re not visible in the cyber world then you really don’t exist in this day and age,” Tate says.

Tate says the directory is part of  the “Discover D 1” program, an initiative that encourages economic sustainability and community engagement.
