Learn The Right Way to Measure Snow

National Weather Service offers winter spotter training in October, November.

Whenever a snowstorm hits Metro Detroit, the National Weather Service tells us how much snow actually fell. To get those amounts, meteorologists rely on measurements taken by the public. But there’s a right way to measure snow and a wrong way. The NWS office in White Lake Township trains “spotters” on how to accurately take readings.
