Scientists want to better coordinate environmental programs, data collection, and other efforts taking place along the waterway between northern Lake St. Clair and western Lake Erie. A new report offers recommendations on how to do that. Eastern Michigan biology professor Steve Francoeur is co-Chair of the State of the Strait Conference. He tells WDET’s Amy Miller that scientists, conservationists, government officials and other stakeholders met last December to discuss projects along the waterway. They say they want more coordination to avoid redundancy of efforts along what he refers to as a unique and important waterway ecosystem.
