Holy Promotion! September 17 is “Batman Day”

Batman first appeared in Detective Comics in 1939. Two years ago, DC Entertainment celebrated the Caped Crusader’s 75th anniversary by giving him his own day. Now in its third year, “Batman Day” returns September 17 with comic book giveaways, artist signings, and other events around the country. WDET’s Pat Batcheller spoke with actor Adam West, who played Batman on TV in the 1960s. In May, West was in Novi for the Motor City Comic Con. He was a guest star on the CBS comedy “The Big Bang Theory” last season. West told Pat it was a chance to take some light-hearted jabs at other actors who’ve worn the cape-and-cowl on screen, including Christian Bale. West and his “Batman” co-stars, Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman) voice their characters in a new animated film coming out in select movie theaters on October 10.
