Little Caesars Breaks Ground on New Headquarters

Little Caesars broke ground on a new world headquarters in Detroit. The nine story, $150 million project will sit between the Fillmore and the Fox Theater on Woodward, where the pizza company’s offices currently reside. In the past three years, CEO and President Chris Ilitch said Illitch Holdings has launched more than a billion dollars in development in Detroit.

To date, we’ve already awarded more than $315 million in contracts, nearly 60 percent of the total to Detroit businesses and more than $500 million in contracts, more than 90 percent of the total to Michigan business.

This is the first multi-story office building being built new in the city of Detroit in more than a decade,” said Mayor Mike Duggan. ”Think about that. It means so many businesses and jobs are coming back, that all the old buildings couldn’t hold them.” The Little Caesars expansion is part of the larger Ilitch-backed “District Detroit” project meant to connect Downtown and Midtown. The new Red Wings’ arena and the Mike Ilitch School of Business are also part of the development. According to Duggan, Detroit-based workers have put in more than 200,000 hours of work on various Illitch projects around the city. Officials with Little Caesars claimed the new headquarters, along with other development in the “District Detroit”, will have a $2 billion economic impact on the city, creating nearly 13,000 construction jobs and 1,100 permanent jobs.  The Little Caesars headquarters expansion is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
