Motor City Makeover Comes to Detroit’s East Side

The second round of the annual spring-cleaning event will be held this Saturday.

The Motor City Makeover is coming to Detroit’s east side on Saturday. Officials are calling on residents from across the city to help out during the annual spring cleanup and beautification effort. Vince Keenan is the District Five Manager for Detroit’s Department of Neighborhoods. He says it’s an opportunity for neighbors to meet and make their communities beautiful together.

“It really is a fantastic event. It’s one of the feel-good volunteer events that happen in the city and we want to make sure that everybody feels welcome to come out and volunteer and do some stuff.”

Keenan says in recent years, the city has had more than 8,000 volunteers help during Motor City Makeover. He says the program has existed in some form since the Colman Young administration.
