Work is underway on I-275 southbound, which will be closed between the I-696 interchange and Five Mile Road until sometime in July. Michigan Department of Transportation spokesperson Diane Cross tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller crews will replace almost 90 miles of concrete. She estimates the project will cost $75 million. MDOT’s recommended detour for drivers on eastbound I-696 will be to take the Lodge Freeway (M-10) to the Southfield Freeway (M-39), then go south to I-96 westbound, which leads back to I-275.
