New Lab Aims to “Spark” Interest in Science

Michigan Science Center set to open nation’s fifth Spark!Lab April 2.

A new exhibit coming to the Michigan Science Center lets visitors become inventors. The Spark!Lab is a hands-on area designed to develop problem solving and innovation skills. The Smithsonian Institute and the Ford Motor Company Fund helped develop Detroit’s Spark!Lab, one of five nationwide. Michigan Science Center Outreach Coordinator Charles Gibson tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller it was designed with young scientists in mind. The museum plans to open the lab to the public on Saturday, April 2. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.
