Wayne County Executive Warren Evans delivered his annual State of the County address Tuesday night.
Evans spoke to a crowd gathered at the Detroit Film Theatre inside the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The executive to discussed the county’s finances, efforts to improve services and the need for improved funding for municipalities, among other issues.
Evans took office in January 2015 after winning election the previous November. He asked the state to declare a financial emergency in the county last summer, because of its $52 million structural deficit at the time.
The county signed a consent agreement with the state and Evans was given special powers to deal with the county’s unions.
