Fewer DPS Schools Closed Tuesday

Mayor to visit buildings to ensure they’re up to code.

Two dozen Detroit Public Schools closed Tuesday due to a high number of teacher absences. On Monday, the district closed more than 60 schools because teachers didn’t report for work. At a rally on Monday, many teachers complained of mold and rodents making them sick. Mayor Mike Duggan says he plans to visit schools Tuesday to ensure they’re up to the city’s health and building codes.

These schools were closed as of 8:30 a.m., according to DPS:

All Lapeer County public schools are closed Tuesday due to weather. In Monroe County, the following schools are also closed: Bedford, Dundee, Ida, Jefferson, Mason Consolidated, Monroe, and Summerfield.
