So, the most nominated entry on this year’s list of “banished” words from Lake Superior State University is—“so”, specifically when it’s used to start a sentence. The school in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. has been publishing its tongue-in-cheek list of overused and misused words for more than 40 years.
