Ohio and Michigan Watch for Impaired Drivers

Ohio, Michigan, and four other states are cracking down on impaired driving this weekend.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is cracking down on impaired driving this weekend. It’s part of a multi-state enforcement effort with Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Sergeant Vincent Shirey says the goal is to stop the increase in impaired driving accidents.

“What we’ve seen here in Ohio, has been an increase in OVI fatal crashes. That’s why we’re doing what we are doing we’re going to have more troopers out enforcing those OVI laws, ensuring that your family is safe commuting to and from wherever they’re going,” Shirey says.

Shirey says this weekend was chosen because there is a noticeable increase in impaired driving in December. Increased patrols will begin Friday and continue through Sunday.
