Detroit Metro on High Alert After Feds Issue Travel Warning

Officials at Detroit Metro Airport say they are taking extra precautions in the wake of the federal government issuing a travel warning for U.S. citizens.

The travel warning comes after the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.

U.S. State Department officials say travelers should be extremely careful when using public transportation, avoid crowds and be especially cautious at holiday festivals or events.

Officials say current intelligence suggests terrorist groups continue targeting places like stadiums, theaters and airports.

Spokespeople for Detroit Metro Airport say security there is operating under a “heightened sense of alert” in conjunction with federal law enforcement officials.

They add that they are not aware of any specific threats directed at Detroit Metro.
