After years of abandonment, the Pontiac Silverdome will be torn down. The former Detroit Lions stadium will be demolished after a $30 million price tag failed to drum up interest. Realtor Robert Mihelich says recent events have made the stadium a tough sell.

Since the roof collapsed, and the pipes froze and got into disarray from the weather conditions, we feel it is cost-prohibitive to bring it back to life so the best use would be to repurpose and reuse the land and what we’re working on now is a mixed-use project.”

Robert Mihelich, First Vice President of CBRE Real Estate Group

Mihelich says his real-estate company has drawn up a conceptual plan that includes housing a company headquarters. He says the demolition of the Pontiac Silverdome is slated for the spring.
