Host Stephen Henderson talks with callers about the state’s new legislation to help Detroit’s public schools.

Standards: Brad Biladeau, Government Relations for the Michigan Association of School Administrators, called in to say that there needs to be standards in how we fix reading comprehension. “There should be a uniform recognition of how we’re going to address third grade reading proficiency,” Biladeau says.

Love: One caller said that kids need positive reinforcement to help with reading. “They need support and encouragement, not punishment,” she says.
