GM Could Stand for ‘General Mobility’ Someday

General Motors says driverless cars and ride-sharing will be critical to its future.

General Motors says it plans to make a big splash in the self-driving automobile and ride-sharing markets. To pay for it, the automaker says it will cut more than $5 billion from manufacturing, purchasing, and administrative costs over the next three years. Paul Eisenstein is the publisher of The Detroit Bureau. He tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller CEO Mary Barra sees GM as not just a car company, but a mobility company.
