Survey Asks Drivers What They Need For Easy Traveling

A study collects information from residents about their needs in regards to infrastructure and transportation.

Researchers are sending out invitations this fall for households to record their travel information. The Michigan Department of Transportation and Southeast Michigan Council of Governments are collecting the information to help project travel priorities for the next 20 years.

MDOT Spokesperson Jeff Cranson says it’s important for households to participate.

“People say they want their government to behave like a business and part of it being like a business is surveying their customers and doing what you can to get their feedback about what they want, what they want now, and what they will want in the future,” Cranson says.

Cranson says the “M-I Travel Counts” survey will ask how and why each household travels, whether it is commuting or attending appointments.
