U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan hear concerns about the minimum wage.

Fast food workers fighting for a hike in the minimum wage have a new ally in the White House.

U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez held a roundtable in Detroit this week with Mayor Mike Duggan, workers from various fast food chains and union officials to promote the “Fight for 15” movement.

That’s the effort to create a $15-per-hour minimum wage across the country.

Labor Secretary Perez tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter that raising the minimum wage is simply common sense.
