BIO for Dj J.Squared

Dj J. Squared (aka Norvell Molex Jr.) always had a deep love for music from parents who introduced him to an eclectic collection of jazz, soul and rock music through their wide and varied music collections.  In college (Eastern Michigan University), he became a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, which exposed him to house music in a dramatic fashion.  One of his frat brothers was techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson, who had just garnered worldwide acclaim after he produced the global smash “Good Life,” under his Inner City alias.  J. Squared was one of the first to hear that track as Saunderson introduced it at an EMU (Eastern Michigan University) party and his love of house/techno music deepened from there on out.

Later on, after graduating from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts, J. Squared dove full force into Dj-ing becoming a go-to spin doctor for mix tapes, CDs and selected gigs around the metro Detroit area.   He would later produce podcasts such as The Jazz Suite and Gospel Jazz shows.  He also hosted and/or produced the popular internet radio show for more than 6 “Treasures from Grandpa’s Attic” and “The Chris Kelly Show” for SVMIX internet radio.

J. Squared can still be heard doing the popular soul music podcast “Getting-It-In Soul,” and he has maintained his active DJ schedule spinning at various functions and venues across the state of Michigan.
