Woodward Dream Cruise Revs Up This Week

Hot rods and antique automobiles are flooding Michigan roadways this week. It’s the 21st annual Woodward Dream Cruise. The event officially takes place Saturday, but motorists are already making their way onto M-1. Michael Lary is the vice president of the Woodward Dream Cruise. He says the event’s origins drive close to home.

The city of Ferndale is where it all began in 1994 when local resident, Nelson House, approached the city with an idea he had. His whole purpose for wanting to have some sort of car show, he wanted to do it as a fundraiser for kids to build a soccer field in the city of Ferndale.”

Lary says the Woodward Dream Cruise runs 16 miles, from Ferndale to Pontiac. He says Metro-Detroit stands to gross nearly $60 million from the event.
