M-1 Rail team members held a pop-up meeting with the public Tuesday in Midtown.

The group passed out surveys and comment cards outside the Detroit Public Library to get resident’s opinions on how public transit should work. M-1 spokesperson Sommer Woods says the pop-ups allow the surveys to reach a larger demographic.

“It gives us an opportunity to really gain some different insight because for us, it’s not just the person that knows about the project, but we also need to from the person who doesn’t know about the project…. what they think about the project, how it is perceived,” Woods says.

M-1 Rail has hosted more than a dozen pop-up meetings this year, in addition to the community forums held every other month.

The next pop-up will take place at New Center Park Wednesday evening.
