June Sales Rise for Ford, Fiat Chrysler, Drop for GM

Ford , Fiat Chrysler report sales gains in June. GM sales down. But industry overall still on best pace in a decade.

Detroit’s Big Three automakers are reporting mixed sales results for last month.

June provided good news for the Ford Motor Company and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles…but not so good for General Motors.

Fiat Chrysler sales rose 8 percent, its best June since 2006, on the strength of consumer demand for its Jeep brand.

Ford sales increased about 1.6 percent.

But GM sales dropped as the automaker cut back on rental sales.

Over the first half of the year, however, sales of GM products are up about 3.4 percent.

In fact experts predict the auto industry as a whole is on pace for its best year in a decade, led by sales of SUV’s, crossover vehicles and trucks rather than cars – a trend the automakers expect to continue.
