Cuban Chamber of Commerce Opens Office in Michigan, Looks to Capture Potential $5.9 Billion in Trade

The Cuban Chamber of Commerce is opening an office in Oakland County. The chamber is a non-profit organization that promotes U.S. businesses trading with Cuba.

Executive Director Dana McAllister says her goal is for the state to have a competitive lead in exporting to Cuba.

I wanted Michigan to have this opportunity based on the diversity of agriculture that we have here, manufacturing, automotive, medical, a lot of different industries that would definitely pair well with trading with Cuba in both exporting when normalization occurs and importing as well, too.

- Dana McAllister, Executive Director of Cuban Chamber of Commerce

McAllister says once federal trade restrictions are lifted, Michigan has the potential to bring in $5.9 billion worth of business annually through exports to Cuba.
