State of Michigan Wins SCOTUS Case over EPA Mercury Rule, ‘Inevitable Delayed’ Says Expert [Document]

WSU environmental lawyer says SCOTUS ruling on mercury emissions from coal plants only delays the inevitable.

The U.S. Supreme Court struck down a federal air emissions rule that was challenged by the state of Michigan. On Monday, the court decided that the Environmental Protection Agency should have considered the costs of complying with the rule.

Nick Schroeck is the director of the Transnational Environmental Law Clinic at Wayne State University. He tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the EPA did consider the costs.
