Campus Martius Summer Fun

Food, music, and fun in Detroit parks this summer.

Stephen Henderson speaks with Bob Gregory, President of the Detroit 300 Conservancy, about Quicken Loans Summer in the Parks 2015.  The program kicks off this week and will run through the end of August.  They talk about what types of activities Detroiters can look forward to this summer.

  • Street Eats:  Street Eats is a part of the program that features food from local restaurants.  Gregory says that it will include a variety of new restaurants and food, and will be located near the sports zone.
  • Rhythm and Stage:  Stephen asks about the activity he has noticed at Grand Circus Park.  Gregory says that the program Rhythm and Stage will take place at the park this year. Every Thursday evening in July and August, there will be live jazz and theatre performances, along with lunches in the park.
  • For everybody:  Gregory says that Summer in the Parks is not just for Downtown Detroiters, but will also attract people from around the city, and will create jobs and opportunity for neighborhoods.  He says that the programs are a collaboration between Quicken Loans, a variety of small businesses, and the Parks and Recreation department.
