The head of Major League Baseball says if the game is to thrive, it must lure more minority players and fans.

The head of major league baseball says for the game to thrive it needs to develop players and fans among African Americans in markets like Detroit.

Recently-elected Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred stopped at Detroit’s Comerica Park as part of a tour of cities with major league teams.

WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter was with the Commissioner at the ball park.

He tells WDET’s Jerome Vaughn that Manfred has already faced some challenges.
