United Way Raises $46 Million, Shows Uptick in Fundraising

United Way exceeds campaign goal, raises nearly $46 million.

Officials with the United Way for Southeastern Michigan say they have exceeded their fundraising goal for 2014, after successfully raising nearly $46 million. They say it marks a $5.5 million increase over last year’s fundraising efforts. The United Way’s Vice President of Development, Toni Carlo, says as the region’s economy has improved, so have donations.

“We’re really seeing people step up and give back now that they can and Dan Ammann who has served as campaign chairman from General Motors has done an excellent job at leading the campaign, including a number of volunteers and folks throughout the region.”

Carlo says executives from the Ford Motor Company and Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles have agreed to chair fundraising campaigns for United Way in the future. She says the money will go towards providing food and education services across Southeast Michigan.
