Mike Babcock signs $50 million deal with Toronto. Red Wings could promote top minor league coach.

The Detroit Red Wings are looking for a new head coach, after Mike Babcock signed an 8-year, $50 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Babcock coached the Wings for 10 seasons, leading the team to its last Stanley Cup championship in 2008. The Buffalo Sabres were also interested in hiring Babcock.
