Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Aníbal Sánchez and his wife Ana are creating an initiative to support families of children with health challenges. The couple is partnering with local charities to help children facing difficult medical situations. Ana Sanchez says she and her husband are opening their suite at Comerica Park to families.

We’re providing them an opportunity to get away from the stressful lives that they are going through with the needs of their kids. So the parents and the kids go to the suite, and they’ll be catered, very comfortable, and they’ll be able to watch the game. And at the same time for parents to share their experiences between one another.”

-Ana Sanchez

Sanchez says she and her husband were moved to begin the initiative after their daughter was born with a cleft palate. She says the couple will meet and greet families who participate in the program at Comerica Park.
