Hundreds of No-show Jurors Ordered to Wayne County Circuit Court

This week hundreds of people are being ordered to Wayne County Circuit Court to explain why they failed to show up for jury duty.

Last year roughly 86,000 county residents were supposed to serve as jurors, but less than half of them appeared.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Robert Colombo Jr. tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the situation forces officials to waste scarce tax money by having to send repeated mailings to missing jurors and costs defendants a chance at a truly representative jury of their peers…
