March Sales Cool For GM, Ford

Ford and General Motors are posting lower sales for the month of March.

A wintry month of March helped cool-off sales for two of Detroit’s Big Three automakers.

Ford and General Motors watched sales decline last month, with GM down about 2 1/2 percent and Ford dropping almost 3 1/2 percent.

It was a different story for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles…which posted a nearly 2 percent increase in sales.

The company is marking 60 straight months of year-over-year sales gains, led by demand for its Jeep and Dodge Ram pickup models.

   Japanese automakers reported mixed results.

Toyota sales were up almost 4 1/2 percent…while Honda’s were down nearly 5 1/2 percent.

Experts say car sales overall are beginning to plateau after being on a blistering pace since the worst of the global recession ended in 2009.
