Detroit Today Interim Producer/Journalist

WDET is looking for an interim radio producer/journalist who is well informed about news and current events, and can book numerous, robust and engaging on-air conversations on tight deadlines every week. 

This is a temporary position during the hiring process for a full-time producer. It is expected to be approximately three months in duration.

The ideal candidate understands the issues and conversations concerning southeastern Michigan, with consideration of local, statewide and national stories. A strong journalistic approach and solid AP-style writing skills are important to fulfilling the daily responsibilities of this role including the creation of a daily rundown, providing the host with strong synopses, interview questions, and writing web copy. Other responsibilities include conducting interviews, editing audio, and communicating with other editorial teams at the station about show content. Social media writing and commenting is a routine part of this position.

The producer will be part of the Detroit Today team and report to the Program Director, and work closely with the Senior Editor and show host.
