Amanda LeClaire is an award-winning journalist and managing editor and lead reporter of WDET's new environmental series, the Detroit Tree Canopy Project, as well as WDET's CuriosiD podcast. She was the host of WDET’s CultureShift and a founding producer of the station’s flagship news talk show *Detroit Today*. Amanda also served as a Morning Edition host at WDET and previously worked as a host, audio and video producer, and reporter for Arizona Public Media. Her reporting spans a wide range of topics, from the decriminalization and therapeutic research of psychedelic substances, to how Motown mourned the sudden death of Michael Jackson, to the economic and environmental impact of mineral mining in Wyoming. She’s also covered how anomalous phenomena and research into UAPs have affected the lives of people in the Southwest, and the emotional significance of President Barack Obama’s historic 2008 election night in Detroit. Amanda is also a creative writer, sound artist, and professional tarot reader. She was raised in a mythical Great Lakes forest by Bryan Ferry and a prehistoric wolf, on a strict diet of gummy bears and early electronic music.
