Marissa Gawel is a reporter in WDET’s newsroom. She originally joined the station as an intern after working for a social media start-up in San Francisco.

Marissa grew up in Grosse Pointe and then graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in International Studies and German. She’s worked as a cherry picker, photographer, chakra adviser, magazine editor, and innkeeper.
