Detroiters had to deal with an ugly commute Wednesday morning, with heavy overnight rain leading to street flooding in many areas around the city.

The National Weather Service reports that the city received roughly two inches of rain on Tuesday, flooding parts of the Lodge Freeway near Seven Mile Road and closing down sections of Interstate 94 due to flooding.

DTE’s outage map reported minor scattered problems throughout the city late on Wednesday, with the largest outage encompassing about 300 homes south of Grand River and east of the Southfield Freeway.

The Weather Service reports there is a chance of thunderstorms through the early
afternoon. Isolated strong storms may be capable of wind gusts above 40 mph, hail in excess of a half inch and heavy downpours.

No hazardous weather is expected in the metro Detroit area the rest of the week.
