Nine years ago this week, the city’s drinking water source was switched, contaminating Flint’s tap water with lead.

The crisis made national headlines, but residents are still dealing with the aftermath.

Activist Jalil Carter states the city’s problems have not been fixed fast enough.

“We’re still suffering. Not only because of what took place, but because the people who are in charge and the people who are invested or divested in this conspiracy are moving like turtles and snails,” says Carter.

The activists are doubtful the city will complete a court-ordered lead pipe replacement project by an August deadline.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Flint residents are awaiting their share of a $62 million legal settlement to be distributed.
