Sophie Allison, better known to fans as Soccer Mommy, can finally say she made it to NPR’s Tiny Desk proper.

The Nashville resident was originally scheduled to appear on NPR’s popular music feature in March 2020, but a global pandemic put a stop to those plans. Soccer Mommy did a Tiny Desk (Home) concert from her house instead.

Nearly three years later, Allison and her bandmates recorded an official Tiny Desk Concert episode. The set comprised of four songs throughout the Soccer Mommy catalog, including “Shotgun” and “newdemo” from her 2022 album Sometimes, Forever.

Soccer Mommy will hit the road starting this spring in support of The National. Unfortunately for Detroit fans, she won’t be appearing at their August 7 show at The Fillmore. Her previous visit to the Motor City was at The Eastern back in April of last year.

NPR Music and WDET are looking for Detroit artists to enter the 2023 Tiny Desk Contest. The entry window opens Feb. 7 starting at 10 a.m. ET. Get details at tinydeskcontest.npr.org.
