The Detroit Youth Concert Choir & Performing Arts Company is a nonprofit that provides young people throughout Detroit access to the arts. Kids ages 8 to 18 can learn and grow creative skills and talents in a safe space.

Now celebrating its 26th anniversary, the Detroit Youth Choir is hosting its 2nd Annual Gala: Celebrating 26 Years of Music on Saturday, Oct. 29 at The Roostertail in Detroit. The celebration will feature a special awards presentation to a group of civic and business leaders, heroes and “sheroes” who have had a positive impact on the city. Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield will be presented with The Diana Ross Humanitarian Award at the ceremony.

Mr. Anthony T. White is the choir director of the incredibly talented kids in the Detroit Youth Choir, famously known for their time on America’s Got Talent in 2019. He spoke with CultureShift about how this group of young people continues to inspire audiences across the country.
