Essential Conversations’ Ann Delisi spoke with former WDET staffers Jason Schusterbauer and Mike Conrad about the day Jeff Buckley played at WDET in 1994.

Since his tragic death in 1997, Jeff Buckley’s music has increased in popularity.

“There are very few performers that I’ve met that had that kind of intensity and sex appeal and charisma.” – Ann Delisi

“Hallelujah,” which first appeared on Buckley’s 1994 album “Grace,” reached number two on the billboard charts fourteen years later in 2008. In 1994, Buckley came to WDET to perform on-air, but Delisi had to play hardball with Columbia Records to make it work. Ultimately, Buckley did play at WDET, and she interviewed him that day.
