When WDET Played New Wave Radio and Detroit Listened

WDET has always been known for playing music that wasn’t getting played anywhere else on Detroit radio. When New Wave came along, Mike Halloran “Radios In Motion” became a hit.

Before the Electrifying Mojo was playing artists like Kraftwerk and New Wave, they had a home on WDET.

It was Mike Halloran along with his co-host/musician, Carolyn Striho, who championed punk and new wave music. Mike talks with current host Ann Delisi about how he got his start on WDET, calling Detroit DJs to get obscure progressive rock music played, Detroit’s influence on the trajectory of certain music genres and why he called the show “Radios in Motion.”
