Farm-to-Table Restaurant Aims to Bring Healthy Food to East Village

Detroiter Nya Marshall recognized that her East Side neighborhood lacked healthy restaurant options, so she decided to start IVY Kitchen + Cocktails.

A new farm-to-table restaurant is coming to the East Jefferson corridor, an area once neglected but quickly being revitalized.

Nya Marshall, serial entrepreneur and sustainability developer, is opening IVY Kitchen + Cocktails, a cost-friendly restaurant located in the East Village neighborhood, just east of the MacArthur Bridge to Belle Isle.

After purchasing the property at 9205 E. Jefferson Ave. five years ago, Marshall has worked diligently to transform the space into a community asset – one that provides quality food options and a feel-good experience for its residents.

“’I lived on the east side since I was 13-years-old, we were very food insecure then, and it’s even more food insecure now,” Marshall says. “When I moved west and came back east, I couldn’t believe that. So, my thought was: ‘How do I add value to the community?’”
