Michigan is a big beer state with over 400 breweries, but liquor is starting to steal the spotlight.

Starting next year, you’ll have more chances than ever to try Michigan-made whiskey in the metro area.

CultureShift’s Ryan Patrick Hooper speaks with Detroit News reporter Melody Baetens about the new trend.

According to Baetens, one of the biggest stories related to whiskey in the region is that the Traverse City Whiskey Company is set to “have their first Metro Detroit presence.”

“They’re going to have a tasting room inside of Como’s in Ferndale when it opens this spring,” she explains. “They’re going to have their versions of classic cocktails. There will also be a retail element where you can grab a bottle.”
