Detroit Casinos Report Highest Ever Monthly Revenue

March was record-setting month for Detroit casinos, sending $16.5 million to city in taxes and development agreements.

Detroit’s three casinos’ combined March revenue of $138.6 million is the highest since they opened in 1999 and 2000, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

Casino taxes are the city’s third largest source of revenue behind income taxes and state revenue sharing.

The three casinos reported paying $16.5 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit and $11.2 million in gaming taxes to the state of Michigan in February.

March revenues rose 26 percent from February’s earnings at the three casinos.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board says MGM’s market share in February was 42 percent followed by MotorCity with 36 percent and Greektown with 22 percent.
