Auto racers are preparing for one of the biggest events in the sport, this weekend’s Indianapolis 500, featuring many of the same cars that will be on Belle Isle a week later for the Detroit Grand Prix.

But there’s buzz building about a race team that is not even ready for the starting line yet.

Metro Detroit-based Grace Autosport is designed to be the first all-female racing team.

Team principal Beth Paretta says Grace will showcase what talented women can achieve in a profession dominated by men.

Paretta tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the team, and the dream, almost came together last year.
