Ford Road Makes Top 10 Wayne County Intersections with the Most Crashes
Ford and Haggerty Road in Canton Township ranked number one with 116 crashes.
Ford Road claimed five spots in the top ten Wayne County intersections with the most crashes least year.
The list was compiled by the Michigan Auto Law Firm with help from the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reporting Unit.
The intersection of Ford Road at Haggerty in Canton Township topped the list with 116 accidents.
Attorney Todd Berg says one cause for the large number of crashes could be the inability for the road to handle the amount of traffic that passes through.
“When those roads were put down, they could have had no idea that they could have the amount of traffic and the amount of people that they have coming through right now,” Berg says. “That IKEA store alone, it’s the only one here in Michigan, it probably blows their mind in terms of how much traffic it brings in.”
Berg says behaviors such as speeding and distracted driving also contribute to the high volume of crashes.
