Health Officials Confirm Four People in Michigan Test Positive for Zika Virus

The CDC reports 4 people in Michigan show signs of the Zika virus, but contracted it from outside the state.

Health officials say they have found four confirmed cases of the Zika virus in the state.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that four Michigan residents tested positive for the virus.

Officials say those people had traveled to areas known to already have cases of Zika present, or had sexual contact with another person who had traveled to such areas.

None of the Michigan cases involve pregnant women who are especially at risk of having miscarriages or a baby with a birth defect…if they are infected with the virus.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates about 279 pregnant woman in the U.S. and its territories have contracted the disease.
