This weekend’s Motor City Comic Con in Novi brings with it a galaxy of stars from the stage, screen and, yes, comics.

One of the best known is an actor who played an android that longed to be human.

Actor Brent Spiner portrayed Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Lt. Commander Data on TV and in a series of motion pictures.

But Spiner’s career goes well beyond the Enterprise, spanning decades that include a role in both the first and upcoming Independence Day movies and even a turn as a song-and-dance man.

In this complete version of Brent Spiner’s interview he tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter that the character of Data has a special place in his heart but not at the forefront of his mind.

He also talks about his overall approach to acting, attending comics conventions and even how harshly he critiques his own performances.
